Just when we thought they\u2019d forgotten, William and Kate have
\ncemented a brand new tradition with a surprise move.<\/p>\n

Almost 24 hours after the glittering State Banquet at Windsor
\nCastle, held in honour of Nigeria\u2019s President Bola Tinubu, the
\nPrince and Princess of Wales shared a striking new portrait of them
\ntaken just before the gala event.<\/p>\n

The last three State Visits had seen the couple release a formal
\nphoto of themselves ahead of the State Dinner but the event for the
\nPresident of Nigeria had passed without any behind the scenes
\nglimpse leaving a new tradition seemingly in question.<\/p>\n

However, as day two of the Nigerian State Visit progressed,
\nWilliam and Kate revealed they did have a gala portrait taken, and
\nensured this special photo of them at one of the most important of
\nroyal events is here to stay.<\/p>\n

The couple also underlined their diplomatic role in this State
\nVisit by choosing a British Nigerian photographer to take the
\nshot.<\/p>\n

Christianah Ebenezer<\/a>, whose work has
\nbeen shown at the National Portrait Gallery, said it was an \u201dtrue
\nhonour\u201d to take the photo.<\/p>\n

The artist, who has talked before about taking inspiration from
\ncinematography for her work, said \u201dblending our shared creativity
\nwith elements of classic portraiture and nature, the team worked
\nseamlessly to capture this moment ahead of the Nigerian State
\nBanquet \u2013 something I\u2019m deeply humbled to have seen come together
\nso beautifully\u201d<\/p>\n

The portrait showed Kate in a striking green dress by designer
\nAndrew Gn which she paired with the creamy white pearl and diamond
\nLover\u2019s Knot Tiara, making a nod to both colours on the flag of
\nNigeria. Earlier, the Princess of
\nWales had worn a coat dress by British Nigerian designer, Tolu
\nCoker,<\/a> to welcome President TInubu and his wife, Remi, to
\nWindsor ahead of the official ceremonial start of the State
\nVisit.<\/p>\n

As they shared this brand new portrait, William and Kate said
