It came after the Duchess and her husband, Prince Harry<\/a>, released a lengthy and fiery statement last weekend, dismissing a number of bombshell claims made in Tom Bower\u2019s forthcoming book.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Bower\u2019s latest offering, parts of which have been serialised by The Times magazine, makes a number of accusations against the Sussexes, their relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Invictus Games.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Following the publication of the serialised extracts of the new book, the Sussexes\u2019 spokesperson released a statement, which read: \u201cMr Bower\u2019s commentary has long crossed the line from criticism into fixation. This is someone who has publicly stated, \u2018the monarchy in fact depends on actually obliterating the Sussexes from our state of life,\u2019 language that speaks for itself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe has made a career out of constructing ever more elaborate theories about people he does not know and has never met. Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, the statement was criticised by royal watchers, with some saying it makes the Sussexes look \u201cdeeply bothered\u201d and that Mr Bower had \u201chit a nerve\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
