He was 81-years-old.<\/p>\n \u201cWith deep sadness, we are sharing the news that Bob passed away last night,\u201d his family shared in a statement on Saturday (March 21) with the Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cHis family asks that their privacy be respected.\u201d <\/p>\n Mueller<\/strong>\u2018s family announced last August that he was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s disease in 2021.<\/p>\n Following news of Mueller<\/strong>\u2018s death, Trump<\/strong>, 79, released a shocking statement in reaction.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>Taking to his Truth Social<\/a>, Trump<\/strong> wrote, \u201cRobert Mueller just died. Good, I\u2019m glad he\u2019s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP\u201d<\/p>\n For years, Mueller <\/strong>was highly trusted on both sides of the aisle. He was selected as FBI director by President George W. Bush<\/strong> just days before the September 11, 2001 attack in New York City. He then transformed the nation\u2019s law enforcement agency into a terrorism-fighting force. He was then asked to stay past his 10-year tenure by President Barack Obama<\/strong>. <\/p>\n He served in the role for 12 years, becoming the longest-serving FBI director.<\/p>\n Later, Mueller<\/strong> was special counsel in the Justice Department\u2019s investigation into whether the Trump <\/strong>campaign illegally coordinated with Russia to sway the outcome of the 2016 Presidential Race.<\/p>\n Our thoughts are with Robert Mueller\u2019s loved ones at this time.
