Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> has teased that her \u201cexperimental\u201d new album will be full of \u201csad love songs\u201d.<\/p>\n Speculation has been mounting this week that the singer is gearing up to release\u00a0new music, with\u00a0cryptic pink album teasers having been discovered by fans in Los Angeles and London<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rodrigo released her last album \u2018Guts<\/a>\u2019 in 2023, itself the follow-up to her critically acclaimed breakthrough record \u2018Sour<\/a>\u2019 two years earlier. Since then, she has played countless huge headline shows, including her\u00a0Pyramid Stage headline set at Glastonbury 2025<\/a>, where she brought out The Cure<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Robert Smith<\/a>\u00a0as a special guest.<\/p>\n The singer has now been interviewed in the new edition of\u00a0British Vogue<\/i><\/a>, with the feature describing what they have heard of the new record as Rodrigo at her \u201cmost experimental\u201d, with one track being labelled as \u201csmooth, trippy soft rock\u201d.<\/p>\n Rodrigo herself told the publication that the album consists\u00a0of \u201csad love songs\u201d,\u00a0adding: \u201cI\u00a0realised\u00a0all my\u00a0favourite\u00a0romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve\u00a0found a lot of inspiration from being in London,\u201d she added. \u201cI\u2019ve\u00a0spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0had here.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place. When\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0experiencing that\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0connected to someone, or feeling\u00a0really good,\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!\u201d<\/p>\n Part of the reason for Rodrigo\u2019s extended stays in London can be attributed to her relationship with the British actor Louis Partridge, known for House Of Guinness <\/i>and Enola Holmes.<\/i><\/p>\n Elsewhere in the\u00a0British Vogue\u00a0<\/i>piece,\u00a0Robert Smith\u00a0opened up\u00a0about his relationship with Rodrigo<\/a>, revealing that he became a fan after hearing her breakout single \u2018Drivers License\u2019, and went on to buy both \u2018Sour\u2019 and \u2018Guts\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cAlthough most of the songs on those two albums are not really \u2018aimed at my demographic\u2019, they are all so good that it is hard not to fall in love with them,\u201d Smith wrote in the piece.<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
