Speaking to The Mirror,<\/a> royal author Ingrid Seward, who has known Fergie for a long time, said: “We don’t know if they (Beatrice and Eugenie) knew what was going on or not, some assume that they must have done, but they may not have done.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“And if they didn’t know, they must be very unhappy with their parents at the moment. It’s all very well talking about loyalty, and they are very loyal, but they’ve been dragged into this as basically, as innocents.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cPeople say, \u2018Oh, they must have known that they were going to have lunch with a convicted paedophile\u2019, but why would they know? It would just have been going for lunch with \u2018a friend of mum’s\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe blame has to lie with Sarah. We don\u2019t know how their lives panned out, but presumably she would just say, \u2018right, we\u2019re catching a plane at 3 o\u2019clock and we\u2019re going to have lunch with Uncle Jeffrey\u2019. Maybe they would question if he was in prison? Or maybe they wouldn’t even know that?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The sisters have also kept a low profile<\/a> since their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was released the same day as his arrest under investigation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
