RIO DE JANEIRO<\/strong> \u2013 Grammy-winning singer Chappell Roan<\/a> responded on Sunday to accusations made by Brazilian-Italian soccer star Jorginho that a security guard mistreated his 11-year-old stepdaughter after she recognized the singer.<\/p>\n Jorginho Frello, a player for Flamengo<\/a> widely known as Jorginho, said that his wife and the child were staying at the same hotel in Sao Paulo<\/a> as the singer, who is in the country for the Lollapalooza<\/a> Brazil music festival, when the controversy occurred.<\/p>\n \u201cDuring breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognized her, got excited and just wanted to make sure it was really her,\u201d Jorginho said, in a lengthy text posted on Instagram in Portuguese and English on Saturday. The girl is the daughter of Catherine Harding, Jorginho’s wife, and British actor Jude Law. <\/p>\n \u201cShe didn\u2019t say anything, didn\u2019t ask for anything,\u201d Jorginho said, adding that a security guard then came over to his family\u2019s table and spoke \u201cin an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n Jorginho said that Roan did not deserve her fans’ affection.<\/p>\n Roan addressed the incident on Sunday, also on Instagram. The singer said that the security guard was not her personal security and that she didn\u2019t see a woman and a child.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn\u2019t have good intentions,\u201d Roan said. \u201cI do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do no hate children.\u201d<\/p>\n Rio\u2019s new mayor Eduardo Cavaliere weighed in on the controversy late on Saturday, saying that while he was mayor Roan would never perform on Copacabana Beach as Madonna<\/a> and Lady Gaga<\/a> have, and as Shakira<\/a> will do in May.<\/p>\n \u201cI doubt that Shakira would do that!\u201d he said, adding that Jorginho\u2019s daughter would be a guest of honor at the Colombian superstar\u2019s upcoming free concert on Rio’s sprawling sands.
