SERIES MANIA:<\/a> The new adaptation of classic rags-to-riches drama A Woman of Substance headlines production and distribution giant Banijay Entertainment\u2019s scripted slate for Series Mania in Lille, France, this week.<\/p>\nProduced by The Forge for UK public service broadcaster Channel 4 (C4), it stars Brenda Blethyn and is a reimagining of the bestselling novel by Barbara Taylor Bradford, the original adaptation of which also sits within Banijay\u2019s catalogue.<\/p>\n
Another series from The Forge for C4 is Falling, Adolescence scribe Jack Thorne\u2019s first ever love story, about a priest and a nun who fall for one another.<\/p>\n
The roster also includes Half Man, created by Baby Reindeer writer Richard Gadd. It is produced by Mam Tor Productions in association with Thistledown Pictures for the BBC, BBC Scotland and HBO.<\/p>\n
Streamer originals include Motorvalley (Gr\u00f8enlandia for Netflix), BOHO (jonnydepony for Streamz) and crime thriller La Nena (Diagonal TV in association with Buend\u00eda Estudios Canarias for Atresmedia).<\/p>\n
Rounding out the slate are historical drama Montmartre (Authentic Prod for TF1), procedural dramedy Marie-Line Incognito (DMLS for TF1), detective drama reboot Wallander (Jarowskij\/ YellowBird and Banijay Rights for TV4 and ARD Degeto), Peaky Blinders (Kudos and Garrison Drama for the BBC in the UK and Netflix globally).<\/p>\n
Selected for Series Mania\u2019s competition is Filmlance\u2019s My Brother, a drama exploring fractured loyalties, and DLO\u2019s true-life political thriller An Anatomy of a Moment for Movistar+. Banijay Rights\u2019 These Sacred Vows, an Irish comedy-drama from Treasure Entertainment for RT\u00c9, is part of the official selection for the International Panorama section of the festival.<\/p>\n
The Special Screenings strand will showcase Topkapi\u2019s Etty, a reinterpretation of Etty Hillesum\u2019s diaries by Hagai Levi, coproduced with Les Films du Poisson, Komplizen Serien, Arte France and Quiddity.<\/p>\n
Finally, events in Lille also include a special 25th anniversary screening for Zodiak Kids & Family France\u2019s Totally Spies!.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
