here<\/a> and there are a few worthwhile celebrity takeaways. First of all, Justin does seem disoriented, certainly not all that alert, and to me it sounds like he\u2019s slurring his words. There\u2019s really no doubt here, in my mind, that he was drunk.<\/p>\nBut then a friend shows up, a woman, who is utterly flabbergasted that the police would actually arrest Justin Timberlake, like it\u2019s unfathomable that they would do this to someone who is as famous as he is. She starts pleading with the cops to just forget this happened, at one point, out of sheer desperation, she screech-moans, \u201cPlease help me!\u201d And then follows up with, \u201cCan you guys please just do me a favour, \u2018cause you loved \u2018Bye Bye Bye\u2019 or, like, \u2018SexyBack\u2019?\u201d It\u2019s insight into how the people around him, in his life, might treat him \u2013 that his celebrity privilege is something performed on his behalf.<\/p>\n

Later, when Justin is shown at the police station, seemingly waiting while the officers complete the paperwork, and he\u2019s handcuffed while seated at the intake booth, he questions whether or not this is standard operating procedure, if what he\u2019s experiencing is what anyone who\u2019s been pulled over and then arrested for suspicion of DWI might experience. And he seems doubtful, he\u2019s asking because, presumably, he thinks that he\u2019s being treated worse than a regular degular, because he\u2019s famous\u2026 even though we\u2019d already established that, initially, the arresting officer had no idea who he was.<\/p>\n
But it\u2019s not like the officers are disrespectful or abusive or anywhere approaching offside. If anything, from the perspective of a civilian, they\u2019re being exceedingly polite which\u2026 of course\u2026 is not often how we see them behaving when the suspect is a person of colour. Still, anything short of luxury for someone like Justin must feel like torture. It\u2019s a reminder of what\u2019s \u201cnormal\u201d for those who exist in the world believing they are \u201cspecial\u201d.<\/p>\n
