The veteran entertainer first made the top 10 on Billboard\u2019s flagship <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/t\/albums\/\" id=\"auto-tag_albums\" data-tag=\"albums\">albums<\/a> chart in February 1975 with <em>Barry Manilow II<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tManilow has also released \u201cSun Shine,\u201d an ebullient single that echoes Manilow\u2019s 1977 hit \u201cDaybreak.\u201d The retro vibes include a whistling break and the evocative sound of a needle being dropped onto a vinyl record. Written by Manilow and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/take-that\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/take-that\/\">Take That<\/a>\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/gary-barlow\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/gary-barlow\/\">Gary Barlow<\/a>, the song was produced by Manilow, David Benson and Greg Bartheld. Manilow doesn\u2019t appear in the video, which was directed by La\u00eds Sambugaro, and which focuses instead on an attractive young couple getting ready for the day.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe album opens with \u201cOnce Before I Go,\u201d which was co<strong>\u2013<\/strong>written by Oscar winners Dean Pitchford and the late Peter Allen and executive-produced by Manilow\u2019s longtime mentor, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/clive-davis\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/clive-davis\/\">Clive Davis<\/a>. The song reached No. 25 on <em>Billboard<\/em>\u2019s Adult Contemporary chart in February, extending Manilow\u2019s more than 51-year history on that chart. He first charted on both Adult Contemporary and the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1974 with \u201cMandy.\u201d Manilow acted in the \u201cOnce Before I Go\u201d music video, which was filmed at the Westgate Las Vegas, home to Manilow\u2019s long-running residency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe album includes a new recording of \u201cAnother Life,\u201d an \u201cit\u2019s over\u201d ballad which Manilow included on his 1991 box set <em>The Complete Collection and Then Some\u2026<\/em> Two of the tracks feature guest artists. Saxophonist Dave Koz is featured on \u201cLook at Me Now.\u201d Vocalist Sharon \u201cMuffy\u201d Hendrix sings a duet with Manilow on \u201cWhen Somebody Says Goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tManilow wrote or co-wrote all but two of the 13 tracks. He teamed with John Bettis to write three of the songs. Bettis has written numerous songs for Manilow albums, dating back to \u201cWhere Are They Now from 1979\u2019s <em>One Voice<\/em>. Manilow teamed with Bruce Sussman and Enoch Anderson to write two songs each for the album. Sussman co-wrote what is probably Manilow\u2019s most famous song, \u201cCopacabana (At the Copa),\u201d as well as \u201cI Made It Through the Rain,\u201d his most recent top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Manilow teamed with Adrienne Anderson to write the closing track, \u201cComing of Age.\u201d They cowrote \u201cCould It Be Magic,\u201d a song from Manilow\u2019s 1973 debut album that was re-released and became a top 10 hit in 1975.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tManilow and Lloyd co-produced nine of the 13 tracks (with collaborators, in some cases). David Benson, Greg Bartheld and Manilow produced two tracks, the aforementioned \u201cSun Shine\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Trouble the Water.\u201d Other producers involved on the album include Kenneth <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/babyface\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/babyface\/\">\u201cBabyface\u201d<\/a> Edmonds, a 12-time Grammy winner, and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/dave-cobb\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/dave-cobb\/\">Dave Cobb<\/a>, a nine-time Grammy winner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe album is being released by Manilow\u2019s\u00a0STILETTO Entertainment. It\u2019s being distributed by The Orchard. STILETTO has released three of Manilow\u2019s last five studio albums.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe album announcement arrives amid a time of both health challenges and professional validation for Manilow. On Dec. 22, 2025, he announced a diagnosis of early-stage lung cancer, for which he underwent surgery. On March 3, he released an upbeat video in which he declared \u201cBut I am getting stronger and I have great doctors and wonderful friends and family, but I am so looking forward to getting back on stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn April, Manilow will receive the American Advertising Federation\u2019s President\u2019s Award at the Advertising Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The event will recognize his iconic work in advertising early in his career. He composed and\/or performed jingles for brands including State Farm, Band-Aid, KFC, Pepsi, and McDonald\u2019s. Manilow performed a medley of those jingles which he dubbed \u201cVery Strange Medley\u201d on <em>Barry Manilow\/Live<\/em>, his double live album that reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 1977. Manilow was previously recognized for this work at the 2009\u00a0Clio Awards\u00a0where he received an honorary Clio Award.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tManilow is a 2002 inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and recipient of the BMI Icon Award. He has won two Primetime Emmys (in 1977 and 2006), a Grammy (in 1979) and a special Tony Award (in 1977).
