Tom Cruise has earned high praise from Steven Spielberg, who recently reflected on working with the actor.<\/p>\n

During a conversation with Sean Fennessey at a keynote event at SXSW in Austin, Texas, the 79-year-old director praised the 63-year-old actor\u2019s discipline while working together on Minority Report <\/i>(2002) and War of the Worlds <\/i>(2005).<\/p>\n

\u201cTom Cruise showed up every morning when I showed up. I show up before the crew. So I get to the set sometimes at 6.30 in the morning,\u201d Spielberg said.<\/p>\n

He contined, \u201cOn Minority Report and on War of the Worlds, Tom would insist on getting there when I got there so we would map out the whole day\u2026 which was really helpful for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cruise, known for performing his own stunts, has also highlighted his approach to developing skills for his roles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will learn a skill, and I know eventually I\u2019m going to use it in a movie,” he said in a May 2025 interview with PEOPLE<\/i>, explaining that he was \u201cconstantly training\u201d across a range of skills, “whether it\u2019s the piano or having more time to dance. Or parachuting, flying airplanes, or helicopters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe wonderful thing is you\u2019re never there. It can always be better,\u201d the Mission Impossible<\/i> star added.<\/p>\n
