He said, \u201cWilliam was longing to meet her and so was Catherine,\u201d recalling several dinners at their neighboring homes. Harry added, \u201cCatherine has been absolutely\u2014.\u201d Before he could finish, Markle jumped in with the word, \u201cWonderful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back then, Markle also praised the royals for how they received her, especially Queen Elizabeth II. She had said, \u201cTo be able to meet her through his lens, not just with his honour and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important for me.\u201d Calling the late monarch \u201can incredible woman,\u201d Markle said she felt \u201cincredible respect\u201d for the time she spent with her.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the narrative changed years later in the couple\u2019s Netflix docuseries \u201cHarry &amp; Meghan,\u201d where Markle described that first dinner with Prince William and Middleton in far less rosy terms. She remembered hosting the couple at home \u201cin ripped jeans\u201d and barefoot, greeting them with hugs.
