Tina Turner\u2019s<\/strong> legacy has entered a new business era.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to reports, Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment<\/u><\/a> has acquired the rights to Turner\u2019s name, image, and likeness, along with the majority of her music catalog, in a deal for an undisclosed amount.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The move follows Turner\u2019s earlier 2021 sale<\/u><\/a> of her music rights to BMG for $50 million and comes as Pophouse looks to expand its entertainment footprint through immersive projects, including digital avatars. Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos<\/strong> told the Associated Press<\/u><\/a> that the company was drawn to Turner\u2019s \u201cincredible visual presence\u201d and \u201cincredible stage energy,\u201d adding that the goal is to help \u201cconsolidate her legacy.\u201d She said Turner is \u201cup there, or is going to be up there, with the Elvises and the Marilyn Monroes of the world.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

TheGrio noted<\/u><\/a> that the deal echoes a similar move by the estate of Quincy Jones<\/strong>, which recently sold name, image, and likeness rights of its own. In Turner\u2019s case, the estate was involved in the conversations and informed throughout the process, while BMG still retains a percentage of the catalog.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Turner, who died in 2023, remains one of the defining performers of modern music. She won 12 Grammy Awards, earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice \u2014 once as part of Ike & Tina in 1991 and again as a solo artist in 2021. Her hits, including \u201cWhat\u2019s Love Got To Do With It,\u201d \u201cProud Mary,\u201d \u201cPrivate Dancer,\u201d and \u201cThe Best,\u201d continue to shape popular culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BMG\u2019s Alistair Norbury<\/strong> said in a statement that Turner\u2019s \u201cvoice and spirit shaped modern music and popular culture,\u201d and stressed that the responsibility is to keep her work resonating with audiences while staying true to the \u201cstrength, independence and originality\u201d that defined her career.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
