While the premise doesn\u2019t sound very Jewish (aside from, maybe, the Boston doctor thing?), Charles, whom we know as Will Gardner from \u201cThe Good Wife,\u201d is Jewish, and, well, having another swoon-worthy Jewish actor playing a doctor on TV does feel notable.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Best Medicine Season 1 Official Trailer (Starring Josh Charles) | FOXTV\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8zxy5q5L2NI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Judaism rating:<\/strong> 0.25\/4 couch potato latkes.<\/p>\n<h2>Jan 8: \u201cThe Pitt\u201d (HBO Max)<\/h2>\n<p>Speaking of swoon-worthy Jewish doctors, Noah Wyle\u2019s Dr. Michael \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch is back for season two of \u201cThe Pitt.\u201d Last year, he made us fall for him as the responsible and conscientious leader of a Pittsburgh ER. We all wept with him when he broke down and recited the Shema on the ER floor. I can\u2019t wait to see what this season brings, though I am a bit worried about him, too. The third season, which stars Sasson Gabay (\u201cShtisel\u201d) and Hugh Laurie (\u201cHouse\u201d), already aired in Israel to rave reviews, so it looks like we are in for a treat.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tehran Season 3 Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dmt9tvnFatQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Judaism rating:<\/strong> 3\/4 couch potato latkes.<\/p>\n<h2>Jan 11: \u201cThe 83rd Golden Globes\u201d (CBS\/Paramount+)<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heyalma.com\/all-the-big-jewish-nominees-at-the-2026-golden-globes\/\">There are lots of great Jewish contenders for this year\u2019s Golden Globes,<\/a> including Noah Wyle, Adam Sandler (for his role in \u201cJay Kelly\u201d) and Sarah Jessica Parker, who will be taking home the Carol Burnett Award. The very Jewish ping-pong period drama \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d is also nominated in several categories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Judaism rating:<\/strong> 1\/4 couch potato latkes.<\/p>\n<h2>Jan 19: \u201cJudy Justice\u201d Season 4 (Prime Video)<\/h2>\n<p>If you can never get enough of Judge Judy Sheindlin (and who can??), I\u2019m happy to report that she\u2019s coming back for another season of \u201cJudy Justice\u201d in just a few weeks. I can\u2019t think of a better comfort show. (\u201cJudy Justice\u201d is similar to Sheindlin\u2019s courtroom reality series \u201cJudge Judy,\u201d which ran for 25 years, until 2021.)<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Carnival Workers Sue Karaoke Singer | Part 2\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v8fCxAFHGhw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Judaism rating:<\/strong> 2\/4 couch potato latkes.<\/p>\n<h2>Jan 22:\u00a0 \u201cMel Brooks: The 99-Year-Old Man!\u201d (HBO Max)<\/h2>\n<p>Mel Brooks turned 99 this year, and what better way to celebrate than with a two-episode special directed by Judd Apatow himself. The show\u2019s title references Brooks\u2019 and the late Carl Reiner\u2019s famous bit, \u201cThe 2000 Year Old Man,\u201d to which his son, the late Rob Reiner, also contributed a joke or two. Apatow calls the special \u201ca deep Bob Dylan-esque dive\u201d that goes into Brooks\u2019 experience fighting in WWII and his rich, pivotal comedy career. It\u2019s Mel Brooks!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Jan 27: \u201cElie Wiesel: Soul on Fire\u201d (PBS)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This beautiful, soulful documentary premieres on PBS just in time for International Holocaust Remembrance Day. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kveller.com\/elie-wiesel-soul-on-fire-lets-the-holocaust-survivor-tell-his-story-in-his-own-voice\/\">Director Oren Rudavsky talked to Kveller earlier this year<\/a> about how he wanted the film to feel like a personal conversation with the Holocaust survivor and Nobel Prize laureate, and it really does.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Judaism rating:<\/strong> 4\/4 couch potato latkes.<\/p>\n<h2>Jan 27: \u201c33 Photos From the Ghetto\u201d (HBO Max)<\/h2>\n<p>This documentary was inspired by the recent discovery of 33 never-before-seen photos from the Warsaw Ghetto. The photos were taken by a 23-year-old Polish fireman, Zbigniew Leszek Grzywaczewski, who was sent in to fight the fires caused by the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The photos <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tvpworld.com\/86205538\/33-photos-from-the-ghetto-new-documentary-unveils-haunting-holocaust-discovery\">were discovered three years ago<\/a> by his son on a previously undeveloped roll of film. Plus, the show was co-created by Segel and Brett Goldstein, who are both Jewish, along with TV maven Bill Lawrence.
