Barry Keoghan is opening up about the \u201cnasty\u201d online hate he\u2019s received over his appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In an interview on <\/span>SiriusXM,<\/span><\/a> the Oscar nominee, 33, said the bullying over his looks has gotten so bad that it\u2019s left him apparently opting to stay inside. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of hate online,\u201d Keoghan said during the March 20 episode. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of abuse of how I look, and it\u2019s kind of past the point of \u2014 you know, everyone goes through that\u2026 but it\u2019s made me shy away. It\u2019s made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He added, \u201cI say this being absolute pure and honest to you. It\u2019s becoming a problem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

After being asked if he has a place where he can decompress from the Hollywood spotlight and \u201cjust be a normal person,\u201d Keoghan admitted that he \u201cactually [doesn\u2019t go] to places\u201d because of the negative attention. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have to hide away because I am hiding away,\u201d he added before suggesting that the online hate has become a major roadblock for him after it started \u201cleaking\u201d into his art. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cBecause then you don\u2019t want to even be on screen anymore,\u201d the actor said. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The \u201cSaltburn\u201d star\u2019s candidness about the online bullying he\u2019s endured comes after he publicly announced in December 2024 that he was deactivating his Instagram<\/a> in the wake of his messy, public breakup with pop star Sabrina Carpenter. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI can only sit and take so much,\u201d Keoghan began in a <\/span>X post<\/span><\/a> at the time, noting that his name has been \u201cdragged across the internet\u201d after the split. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He also told his followers at the time that he publicly responded, \u201cbecause it\u2019s getting to a place where too many lines are being crossed,\u201d and that he could no longer allow it to \u201cdistract\u201d him from his family and work life.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Later in his SiriusXM interview, the \u201cEternals\u201d actor said that while his staying inside is \u201cdisappointing for the fans,\u201d he worries most about it affecting his son, who \u201chas to read all of this stuff when he gets older.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Despite the pressure he\u2019s faced from internet trolls, Keoghan gushed about being \u201cblessed\u201d to have an \u201cincredible fan base.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cPeople are so lovely out there,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s really nice when you do Q&As, and you talk to people, and you can be there with them and answer their questions and give them all of you. And that is the good side of it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
