She also knows better than arguably anyone what it\u2019s like to grow up\u2014and age\u2014in the glittering spotlight.<\/p>\n

In her new cover story for Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/em><\/a>, the actor gets candid about how she has come to terms with aging and learned to love and appreciate her body, as well as how she has adapted her life to feel \u201charmonized.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that very often, conversations about aging presume that the first part of life is the happiest and the most fulfilling, and I don\u2019t necessarily think that\u2019s true,\u201d Hathaway<\/a> said. \u201cI wasn\u2019t expecting to find another gear at 40.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor is 43 years old, working fully in an industry that prioritizes physical beauty, and which puts her right in front of the camera time and time again. Hathaway credits her decision to stop drinking alcohol, and using Shiseido products (she\u2019s a brand ambassador) for her fresh appearance, but said she\u2019d rather not \u201cdiscuss medical information.\u201d Besides, body acceptance runs deeper than the skin.<\/p>\n

In her interview, Hathaway recalled a perception-altering moment she recently experienced while on vacation with her family.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome days you look in the mirror and you\u2019re just like, \u2018Not bad.\u2019 And some days you look in the mirror and you\u2019re like, \u2018What?\u2019 And I was having a \u2018What?\u2019 day,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd you know how you have your aspirational swimsuit that you keep around, just in case you have a good day? And then you have your swimsuit that\u2019s got you no matter what? I accidentally packed the aspirational swimsuit. Which I then had to wear on a \u2018What?\u2019 day. So, I\u2019m ready to have this great day with my family. And I am going to be in front of strangers, and people have phones. And all of the things. But my family is waiting for me. And I looked and I just went, \u2018What?\u2019 And then I looked again and I said, \u2018You are 43.\u2019 And looking at a 43-year-old body, I was like, \u2018Nice.\u2019 When I was expecting to see something that I am not, I felt insecure. But when I actually looked at what it actually is, I was okay with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
