Lana Condor opened up to PEOPLE about her physical transformation to play a ballerina in the new action thriller Pretty Lethal<\/em> while at the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n “I was incredibly out of shape six months before doing this film and it would have been impossible for me to do it,” she said<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n The movie, out now, follows a ballet troupe as their bus breaks down on the way to a competition<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Lana Condor<\/a> went through a dramatic transformation for her latest role.<\/p>\n The actress, 28, opened up to PEOPLE about training to play a ballerina in the new action thriller Pretty Lethal<\/em><\/a> while at the 2026 SXSW<\/a> Film & TV Festival on March 13.<\/p>\n “It was pretty crazy. I was incredibly out of shape six months before doing this film and it would have been impossible for me to do it,” she said.<\/p>\n Lana Condor at the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 13 in Austin, Texas. The To All the Boys I\u2019ve Loved Before<\/em><\/a> star explained that she did weight training and took ballet classes five days a week, as well as paid attention to her nutrition.<\/p>\n “I trained very hard for this because I wanted my body to be prepared. It was a very hard movie, physically, to do. I did a crazy amount of training and I went through a bit of a transformation, which I was very proud of,\u201d Condor said.<\/p>\n Related: https:\/\/people-app.onelink.me\/HNIa\/kz7l4cuf<\/a><\/p>\n The movie, directed by Vicky Jewson, follows a ballet troupe as their bus breaks down on the way to a competition. They seek shelter at a suspicious roadside inn run by a former ballet star.<\/p>\n Maddie Ziegler<\/a>, Uma Thurman<\/a>, Avantika<\/a>, Millicent Simmonds and Iris Apatow<\/a> also star.<\/p>\n As for what drew Condor to the movie, she said she has a background in dance and has always wanted to bring her skills to the screen.<\/p>\n The actress was also a fan of the story, saying, “I loved the team aspect between the dance troupe.”<\/p>\n Condor had her breakthrough role in 2018\u2019s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before<\/em>. She reprised her role in the two sequels, and it was recently announced that she will make an appearance<\/a> in the upcoming season of the spin-off series XO, Kitty<\/em>.
