Snail Mail<\/a>\u2019s new album, Ricochet<\/em><\/a>, is out this Friday, March 27. Last night, Lindsey Jordan and her band stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em> to debut the LP\u2019s opening track, \u201cTractor Beam<\/a>.\u201d They shared the stage with a life-sized statue of a two-headed lamb, ostensibly a reference to Laura Gilpin\u2019s poem \u201cThe Two-Headed Calf<\/a>,\u201d which Jordan previously cited as an inspiration on Ricochet<\/em>.<\/p>\n Jordan and Elsie Richter co-directed the music video for \u201cTractor Beam,\u201d which was shot on a New Jersey sheep farm. \u201cI wanted the first song on \u2018Ricochet\u2019 to be somewhat hopeful, while also balancing some of the heavier themes of the record,\u201d Jordan said in press materials. \u201cI got inspired by Gregg Araki\u2019s adaptation of Mysterious Skin<\/em> and the use of alien abduction as a metaphor for lost time because of disassociation.\u201d Watch the \u201cTractor Beam\u201d video and Snail Mail\u2019s Fallon<\/em> performance below.<\/p>\n The follow-up to 2021\u2019s Valentine<\/em><\/a>, Ricochet<\/em> has been led by the singles \u201cDead End<\/a>\u201d and \u201cMy Maker<\/a>.\u201d Next month, Jordan will kick off her tour<\/a> in support of the record, where she\u2019ll be joined by openers including Sharp Pins, Avalon Emerson & the Charm, and Swirlies at shows across Europe and North America.<\/p>\n
