\n\tEric Ben\u00e9t<\/a> has a message for celebrities \u2014 particularly Chappell Ro<\/a>an<\/a> \u2014 whom he thinks treat fans with disrespect.<\/p>\n \n\tIn a video posted Tuesday (March 24), the R&B musician filmed himself outside as he vented about how one of his \u201cbiggest pet peeves\u201d is \u201cpublic figures or celebrities who lack the grace to just take a picture with your fan or say hello or just acknowledge them if they see you on the street.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIf you are so inconvenienced by somebody acknowledging you, somebody who adores you \u2026 I can\u2019t stand y\u2019all motherf\u2013kers that do that, that shame people who adore you,\u201d Ben\u00e9t continued. \u201cThey\u2019ve allowed you to have this wealth, this incomparable [life] that less than half a percent of the world is allowed to experience. All they want is for you to see them for two seconds, you piece of s\u2013t.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe singer went on to acknowledge that \u201cof course, there are times\u201d when it\u2019s not \u201cappropriate\u201d for fans to approach, such as when a celebrity is with their children or in the middle of eating dinner. But, he continued, \u201csome of you celebrities are notorious for this piece-of-s\u2013t behavior \u2014 [cough] Chappell Roan.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIf you are a repeat offender of this particular offense, this is what I think,\u201d he added, suggesting that people should stop consuming music and buying products from the artists in question. \u201cI think all of the fans of said celebrity, you should collectively decide that you will relieve this celebrity of the struggles and the pain of being rich and famous.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tBillboard has reached out to Roan\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n \n\tBen\u00e9t\u2019s post comes as the Gen Z pop star has been thrust in the center of discourse surrounding an alleged incident in which a security guard yelled at 11-year-old Ada Law \u2014 the daughter of Jude Law and Catherine Harding \u2014 for simply walking past Roan and smiling at the star while at a hotel in S\u00e3o Paulo. After Harding\u2019s husband, soccer star Jorginho, made a post<\/a> claiming the exchange had left his stepdaughter \u201cin tears,\u201d Roan shared a video<\/a> explaining that the bodyguard in question wasn\u2019t her \u201cpersonal security,\u201d and that she hadn\u2019t even been aware of a little girl walking by her.<\/p>\n \n\tRoan\u2019s rep also previously told Billboard that the singer didn\u2019t instruct the \u201cthird-party security officer\u201d to take any action. \u201cShe did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them,\u201d the rep said. \u201cChappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behavior towards her or her fans.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tEven so, Harding followed up with her own video <\/a>saying that the hitmaker should take \u201cresponsibility\u201d for the way people who work for her treat others, fueling more discourse about Roan\u2019s relationship with her fans, a topic that has surged in and out of public interest since the Grammy winner first called out <\/a>\u201ctoxic\u201d fan behavior and asked strangers to stop touching her or demanding she give them attention in public spaces.<\/p>\n \n\tSee Benet\u2019s video below.<\/p>\n
