\u201cThey convinced me to to be chopping down a cherry tree with a chainsaw, dressed up in Colonial garb, dressed up, like, I guess I was supposed to be George Washington, but George Washington didn\u2019t wear the s\u2014 I was wearing,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was 100 years ago, and I remember I wasn\u2019t doing a lot of magazine covers by choice,\u201d Stern said. <\/p>\n
When John Kennedy Jr., whom Stern described as \u201cliterally American royalty and the nicest guy in the world,\u201d asked him to pose for the cover of the April\/May 1996 issue, themed \u201cThe Virtue Issue,\u201d Stern told his agent, \u201cOf course I\u2019ll do it.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI went down there, and they were like, \u2018It\u2019s George magazine. We have a theme cover. You can\u2019t be in your regular clothes. We want you to be, like, George Washington,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey must have caught me on the right day, because I was incredibly amenable. Normally, I would have gone, \u2018I\u2019m not wearing this s\u2014.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Stern said that he got the full supermodel treatment. \u201cYou know what John and the photographer did, that thing that they do to supermodels, \u2018Gorgeous! You look great! Oh, man, this is the greatest cover. This is our best cover!\u2019 They\u2019re yelling while the guy\u2019s clicking away, and I\u2019m posing like I\u2019m Cindy Crawford, like I\u2019m one of the Hadid sisters,\u201d he continues. \u201cI\u2019m standing there thinking I look handsome with my chainsaw and Louis the 14th [outfit.]\u201d <\/p>\n
After Stern went on dragging everything from the \u201cpilgrim shoes\u201d to the \u201cpoofy shirt\u201d he wore for the shoot, he revealed that he actually knew Carolyn Bessette Kennedy as well, although he was a bit cagey about how exactly he knew her. <\/p>\n
\u201cShe was very lovely,\u201d he said. \u201cShe was a really nice woman. I don\u2019t want to go into how I knew her, but I knew her.\u201d <\/p>\n
When Stern\u2019s co-host, Robin Quivers, pushed him on why he couldn\u2019t divulge how he knew the former Calvin Klein publicist, he said, \u201cI just know enough to keep my mouth shut about that. Some stuff you do have to keep private. But anyway, I knew her. \u201c<\/p>\n
According to Disney, \u201cLove Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette<\/a>\u201d is FX\u2019s most-watched limited series ever on Hulu and Disney+, with reports that the first five episodes have been streamed more than 25 million hours since the Ryan Murphy series premiered in February. <\/p>\nThe show, starring newcomer Paul Anthony Kelly as Kennedy and Sarah Pidgeon as Bessette, will air its finale Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
