However, while it seemed like a strong friendship on the surface, royal author Andrew Lownie has suggested this has not been the case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">Instead, he has claimed that the couple were presenting a \u201cfarce\u201d and lying to the public.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/andrewlownie.substack.com\/p\/andrew-had-to-be-restrained-during\" rel=\"nofollow\">Speaking on The Lownie Report Substack<\/a>, the royal author said: \u201cThey were often fighting. This picture of domestic harmony that they present is a farce and I think to be honest it&#8217;s continued to be a farce, the fact that she\u2019s split so quickly now. There&#8217;s no sense of support for him now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cShe supported him when the late Queen was alive, it was the way of carrying favour with the Queen and the Royal Family because they were grateful to her that she hadn&#8217;t abandoned Andrew when everyone else had.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cBut she was there very cynically because her connection with the Royal Family helped her business career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">\u201cWe have to see this as a very cynical exercise. And I just know that they played the press because each time they did this and said they might get back together, the public swooned and said how wonderful and the polls went up.
