\n\tPaul McCartney<\/a> is back with a new single, \u201cDays We Left Behind,\u201d which will appear on the former Beatle\u2019s first album in five years, The Boys of Dungeon Lane<\/em>, out May 29.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLike much of the album, \u201cDays We Left Behind\u201d is steeped in McCartney\u2019s childhood memories, with the LP even drawing its title from one the song\u2019s lyrics. Dungeon Lane is a street leading down to a beach in the Liverpool neighborhood of Speke, where McCartney spent some time as a child.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was thinking just that, about the days I left behind and I do often wonder if I\u2019m just writing about the past but then I think how can you write about anything else?\u201d McCartney said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s just a lot of memories of Liverpool. It involves a bit in the middle about John [Lennon] and Forthlin Road which is the street I used to live in. Dungeon Lane is near there. I used to live in a place called Speke which is quite working class. We didn\u2019t have much at all but it didn\u2019t matter because all the people were great and you didn\u2019t notice you didn\u2019t have much.\u201d<\/p>\n
