As \u201cProject Hail Mary\u201d<\/a> takes off, Ryan Gosling has already set his sights on a new star vehicle. The actor will topline the next film from \u201cEverything Everywhere All at Once\u201d directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, according to Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Universal Pictures movie will begin filming this summer in Los Angeles and hit theaters Nov. 19, 2027. Plot details are still under wraps. 2027 will mark a major year for Gosling, with the actor set to lead Shawn Levy\u2019s film \u201cStar Wars: Starfighter,\u201d which will be released that May.<\/p>\n This is Daniels\u2019 first directing project since \u201cEEAAO\u201d swept the Academy Awards in 2022. The duo won Oscars for best picture, director and original screenplay. <\/p>\n The announcement comes as \u201cProject Hail Mary\u201d is dominating at the box office after opening last weekend to $140.9 million<\/a> worldwide. The debut, the biggest of the year so far, marked Amazon MGM Studios\u2019 top<\/a> theatrical opening ever and the second-best domestic opening for a non-franchise movie since Christopher Nolan\u2019s \u201cOppenheimer.\u201d <\/p>\n During a surprise appearance at an AMC showing of \u201cProject Hail Mary\u201d on its opening night, Gosling told<\/a> moviegoers in New York City that when he first received the script six years ago \u2014 theaters were shuttered during the COVID-19 pandemic \u2014 making a movie like this seemed \u201cimpossible.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201c[It\u2019s] the most ambitious thing I\u2019ll ever make,\u201d Gosling said. \u201cIt was too good not to give it a shot. Six years later, we did it,\u201d Gosling said. \u201cHere we are, we\u2019re all back in theaters. It\u2019s not your job to keep them open, it\u2019s our job to make things that make it worth you coming out.\u201d<\/p>\n The film is the first directorial project Kwan and Scheinert have embarked on under their exclusive, five-year partnership with Universal Pictures, which they signed in 2022, along with producing partner Jonathan Wang. At the time of the deal, Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, said<\/a> the company was \u201cgrateful\u201d the pair had \u201cchosen to go on their journey\u201d with Universal. <\/p>\n \u201cDaniels are creators who have evolved their craft with a distinct vision and singular voice that is unmistakable across the spectrum of content vying for viewers\u2019 attention,\u201d Langley said. \u201cTheir films are remarkably theatrical and with only two original projects under their belts, they\u2019ve merely scratched the surface of what they are capable of as filmmakers.\u201d<\/p>\n
