That\u2019s crazy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The six-week mark is typically when a woman has a post-birth check-up with her doctor to address immediate complications. But it\u2019s hardly a finish line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes me until I am typically a year out of giving birth to feel more like myself,\u201d said Kelce, 34, whose youngest daughter, Finnley, turns 1 next week. \u201cThis is f\u2014ed up because when you read studies about when you\u2019re truly healed, it isn\u2019t even close to six weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Medically speaking, she\u2019s spot on. The postpartum period is generally thought to last about a year. Studies show anywhere from <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC10726257\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">47% to 94% of women<\/a> in high-income countries experience one or more postpartum health issues like urinary incontinence, sex and libido changes, fatigue and depression.<\/p>\n<p>A <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC12417353\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 postpartum health review<\/a> found that mental health problems \u2014 ranging from typical depression and anxiety to \u201csevere disorders\u201d like bipolar and psychosis \u2014 can occur up to a year after childbirth, too.<\/p>\n<p>While the first few weeks after delivery are an especially sensitive time marked by emotional distress for most new moms, postpartum symptoms can persist and shift as time passes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Kelce\u2019s youngest daughter, Finnley, turns 1 next week. Don\u2019t ask if she\u2019s going to \u201ctry for a boy.\u201d Don\u2019t ask if she\u2019s worried about her baby reaching certain milestones.<\/p>\n<p>A solid \u201cdo\u201d?
