Raye<\/strong>‘s new album follows a recent trend in pop music to feature orchestral music, like Rosalia<\/strong>‘s Choral and Orchestral epic Berghain<\/em> and Charlie XCXs string quartet infused Wuthering Heights album.<\/p>\n

So what’s driving the classical orchestral sound in orchestral music? It could be due to the undeniable popularity of film composers like Hans Zimmer<\/strong> who features in Raye’s new album, or it could be a reaction against Artificial Intelligence and the use of synthesisers in pop music, putting the human element back into pop. Either way, we are very much here for the rise of orchestral pop.<\/p>\n

The album features the London Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, one of the leading film, and video games orchestras having featured on over 2500 projects and starred on screen for Bradley Cooper\u2019s film Maestro. They are the resident orchestra of The Barbican in London and perform 70 concerts a year. Their performances this year range from Wagner\u2019s Tristan and Isolde to world premieres by exciting contemporary composers.<\/p>\n

The album also features film composer Hans Zimmer<\/strong> in a track called Click Clack Symphony<\/em>. The song contains original music by Raye and the film composer famous for his music to Blue Planet, Dune and Pirates of the Caribbean. The song features the Nashville Scoring Orchestra.<\/p>\n

So what is the classical reference in Raye\u2019s new album?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a clever play on the title of the song Raye’s Winter Woman<\/em> references Vivaldi’s Winter. You may also recognise it from Netflix TV series Chefs Table, Wednesday and the blockbuster film John Wick: Chapter 3<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
