Meghan McCain<\/a> <\/b>issued a strong defense over the allegedly \u201cevil\u201d criticism of Charlie Kirk<\/b>\u2019s widow, Erika Kirk (n\u00e9e Frantzve)<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI do not understand why Erika Kirk, who saw her husband get brutally assassinated on live television, is a target of such evil and cruelty,\u201d McCain, 41, wrote via X <\/span><\/a>on Friday, March 27. \u201cWhy are you all doing this to her? Have she and her children not suffered enough?\u201d<\/p>\n Charlie, a conservative political commentator, was shot and killed during a Utah speaking engagement<\/span><\/a> in September 2025. He was 31 and is survived by Erika and their two young children.<\/p>\n \u201cSome of you were literally birthed in hell,\u201d McCain added on Friday.<\/p>\n Weeks after Charlie\u2019s death, Erika assumed the role of CEO of Charlie\u2019s Turning Point USA organization and went on a press tour promoting his posthumous book, Stop in the Name of God<\/i>.<\/p>\n \u201cMy daughter and I [have] talked about this at night. She would ask, \u2018What do you think Daddy did today in heaven?\u2019\u201d Erika told Sean Hannity<\/b> on Fox News<\/span><\/a> in December 2025. \u201cI\u2019ll have her relay that back to me. We\u2019ve come to the understanding \u2014 and I\u2019ve tried to explain this to her \u2014 that Daddy\u2019s still with us, he\u2019s just in a different location, and he\u2019s building us a home in heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n Erika has drawn criticism for diving into work so quickly after her husband\u2019s death.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t ask for this,\u201d she stated during a CBS town hall<\/span><\/a> held later in December 2025. \u201cI view it as a blessing [and] a duty to my husband, but I was very happy being a stay-at-home mom. There\u2019s nothing wrong with being a mother.\u201d<\/p>\n
