about the direction the school would take upon his return \u2013 or if he would return at all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Just before the headmaster&#8217;s leave began, the Provost of Eton, former Tory minister Lord (William) Waldegrave \u2013 Mr Henderson&#8217;s close friend and mentor \u2013 also unexpectedly stepped down after 15 years in the role.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">And while the Waleses were thought to have been &#8216;reassured&#8217; when Sir Nicholas Coleridge, chair of Historic Royal Palaces, was appointed Provost last year, they are said to have wanted to wait until Mr Henderson returned before making a final decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">However, \u00a360,000 a year Marlborough School has previously been cited as a possible option for the future King &#8211; with William,\u00a0Kate, George and Charlotte touring the \u00a360,000 a year school where Kate was a pupil after she left all-girls Downe House due to bullying.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Latterly royal sons, including William and Harry, have gone to Eton.
