You know Bruce Willis<\/strong> as an action movie legend. But there\u2019s someone in the Willis family who\u2019s earned \u201cicon\u201d status of her own \u2014 and it has absolutely nothing to do with Hollywood.<\/p>\n

Meet Marlene Willis<\/strong>, known affectionately as \u201cMrs. Willis\u201d at the LAPD\u2019s West L.A. station, where the 90-year-old has been volunteering for 22 years.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right \u2014 Bruce Willis\u2019 mom has spent more than two decades quietly showing up to serve the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department, and most people had no idea.<\/p>\n

Bruce Willis\u2019 Mom Is a Fixture at the West L.A. Station<\/h2>\n

Mrs. Willis volunteers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, according to NBC Los Angeles<\/a>. Her duties include reviewing police reports, making notes and checking grammar.<\/p>\n

But those who work alongside her say she brings something far bigger than clerical skills.<\/p>\n

Officers say her presence alone puts smiles on their faces, and some say they don\u2019t know what they\u2019d do without her. When officers return from difficult incidents, Mrs. Willis often approaches them and gives them a hug.<\/p>\n

\u201cMrs. Willis is a very integral part of West Los Angeles and the LAPD. She is an icon here,\u201d Captain Rich Gabaldon<\/strong>, the West L.A. Station commanding officer, said in an interview<\/a> with the outlet.<\/p>\n

That devotion goes both ways. In her own words, Mrs. Willis has made her feelings about the department crystal clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my family. I mean that 100%,\u201d she said, referring to the LAPD. \u201cI want to help so much, so much. You have no idea. You cannot imagine how much I want to help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Willis Never Name Drops Her Famous Son<\/h2>\n

Here\u2019s the part that truly stands out for anyone who follows the Willis family: Marlene Willis never mentions her son Bruce or involves him in her work at the station.<\/p>\n

She doesn\u2019t trade on his fame. She doesn\u2019t bring up his name. The only hint of her famous connection? Her computer screensaver, which shows Bruce Willis hugging her.<\/p>\n

That quiet humility left an impression on former LAPD Chief Michel Moore<\/strong>, who is now retired and living in Tennessee. Moore called her the volunteer he will never forget.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was never one to wear her identity as his mother on her sleeve or even involve him in even passing references of her life, which impressed me,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n

Bruce Willis\u2019 Mom Honored With LAPD Badge<\/h2>\n

Mrs. Willis\u2019 dedication hasn\u2019t gone unrecognized. She has been named the LAPD Volunteer of the Year in the past, and Moore took things a step further by presenting her with an official LAPD badge as a special honor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile I can\u2019t make her a cop, I can at least give her the greatest symbol of what it means to be a cop. And that is a badge of the law center police department,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n

His admiration for Mrs. Willis went even deeper than the gesture.<\/p>\n
