A source close to Meghan Markle<\/a> and Prince Harry<\/a> has defended the couple ahead of their Australian trip next month. According to a recent spokesperson, the couple are travelling to Australia “to take part in a number of private, business, and philanthropic engagements”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The couple have faced criticism over their upcoming trip, with many experts focusing on referring to it as a “faux-royal tour”. Meghan and Harry have often been criticised for their decision to undergo trips that closely resemble the nature of engagements abroad carried out by official members of the Royal Family.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A person close to the couple has now defended the couple, stating that “the world needs more Meghan and Harry”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They told the Mirror<\/a>: “There is a lot of misinformation being spread about this trip – all designed to whip up hate. The truth is you have a couple heading down under for work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“While they’re in town, they\u2019re going to check-in on some charitable causes that they have long supported and – in the Duke’s case with the Invictus Games – he set-up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“The couple are critically aware that by just visiting a charity, they can help shine a light on its work – bringing media attention that wouldn’t otherwise exist. They don’t have to do that.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They added: “They could just as easily get paid and head straight back to California. It’s an irrational reaction to s***-can a couple who just want to support some the charitable causes close to them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“God forbid they try to do any good in a world that could, frankly, use a little more Harry and Meghan, and a little less sniping from ‘Royal Commentators’ who make a living by proving hate bait for anyone willing to platform them. It’s sad. What a way to make a living.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meghan is set to appear at a women-only weekend retreat in Sydney, with tickets starting at A$2,699 (\u00a31,400) per person.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
