Queen Elizabeth II urged Prince Harry to wait at least a year
\nbefore marrying Meghan Markle but ended up saying the 2018 wedding
\nwas \u201dnothing to do\u201d with her.<\/p>\n
According to Hugo Vickers, in his new biography of Queen
\nElizabeth II, the late Monarch advised her grandson to wait at
\nleast twelve months before saying \u2018I do\u2019 to Meghan but the prince
\ndecided against that.<\/p>\n
Instead, Harry and Meghan married six months after announcing
\ntheir engagement.<\/p>\n
And Hugo Vickers writers in \u2018Queen Elizabeth II\u2019 that the late
\nMonarch ended up telling someone close to her that the wedding was
\n\u201dnothing to do with me\u201d.<\/p>\n

For the first time, a royal fiancee was very publicly welcomed
\nto the Royal Family Christmas celebrations before their marriage
\nand Meghan Markle was also invited to big events including the
\nCommonwealth Day service in 2018 which took place two months before
\nher wedding to Prince Harry.<\/p>\n
Hugo Vickers also writes about discussions between Prince
\nWilliam and Prince Harry where the older brother also advised a
\nlonger engagement before a wedding, something that caused antipathy
\nfrom the younger brother.<\/p>\n
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married on May 19 2018 at St.
\nGeorge\u2019s Chapel, Windsor with Queen Elizabeth II making the groom
\nDuke of Sussex on his wedding day, ensuring that his new bride left
\nthe ancient church as a royal duchess.<\/p>\n
However, Hugo Vickers says that dissatisfaction with their royal
\nlives began soon after the wedding for the Sussexes with things
\ncoming to a head in January 2020 when they announced they would be
\nstepping back as senior royals and proposing a half in, half out
\narrangement that was rejected. The book claims that Queen Elizabeth
\nII was far from impressed with the final decision.<\/p>\n
