The<br \/>\nceremony required her to stand holding the sword straight in front<br \/>\nof her for its duration, with a brief break towards the end when<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/royalcentral.co.uk\/royal-news\/queen-elizabeth-ii-3-217130\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/royalcentral.co.uk\/royal-news\/queen-elizabeth-ii-3-217130\/\"><br \/>\nKing Charles and Queen Camilla<\/a> went into St. Edward\u2019s Chapel to<br \/>\nprepare for the final procession from Westminster Abbey. However,<br \/>\nas they made their way back down the aisle, as the National Anthem<br \/>\nwas played, it was Penny Morduant who led them, once more holding<br \/>\nthe Sword of State.<\/p>\n<p>Her choice of outfit for the Coronation also drew plenty of<br \/>\nattention. She wore a dark teal green dress and matching headband<br \/>\nstyle hat, both decorated with golden leaves.<\/p>\n<p>The decision on what to wear was a difficult one as she was the<br \/>\nfirst woman ever to perform that role at the Coronation. She had become Lord President of the<br \/>\nPrivy Council at the start of the tenure of Liz Truss as Prime<br \/>\nMinister, which happened on September 6 2022, just two days before<br \/>\nthe death of Queen Elizabeth II. And so, less than 48 hours into<br \/>\nher new role, Penny Morduant found herself tasked with the<br \/>\nProclamation of the new Monarch.<\/p>\n<p>She had a leading role at the Accession Council which took place<br \/>\non September 10 2022.
