Jay-Z<\/a> commended his oldest child with wife Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, Blue Ivy Carter<\/a>, for taking the stage on her mother\u2019s last two tours.<\/p>\n The 25-time Grammy winner spoke with GQ<\/em><\/a>\u2019s Frazier Tharpe in a new cover story<\/a> about his life and career. Around the fifteen-minute mark of the video below, Hov reflected on fourteen-year-old Blue being the highlight of Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Renaissance World Tour<\/a> and Cowboy Carter Tour<\/a>, which were held in 2023 and 2025, respectively. On the first tour there was a lot of conversation around her first performance, and she worked really hard to get to that point, but she still wasn\u2019t going for it,\u201d Jay-Z recalled.<\/p>\n \u201cShe still was going through the motions. And then she just started fighting back,\u201d he continued. \u201cI saw her fight maybe for the first time in her life\u2014like, not everything is just given to her and everything is easy. She fought for it. She\u2019s almost on every number. I had to take her off some, like, \u201cMan, you can\u2019t be on that stage when she\u2019s singing \u2018Six-inch heels\u2026\u2019; are you crazy?\u201d<\/p>\n The 56-year-old also acknowledged that Blue Ivy is a \u201ccrazy pianist\u201d when she isn\u2019t dancing, but refuses to let her parents book her a piano instructor. Jay-Z and Beyonc\u00e9 also have two younger children, eight-year-old twins Sir and Rumi<\/a>. The latter also made a cameo on select dates of the Cowboy Carter Tour while her mother sang \u201cProtector.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cShe doesn\u2019t want it to be a job. But she has perfect pitch. If she hears a song, she\u2019ll be like \u201cPlay it again\u201d and then she\u2019ll teach herself,\u201d Hov added about Blue. \u201cThat\u2019s just talent, she doesn\u2019t work at that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe worked at this, and it makes me proud that she fought for something that she really wanted to do. I don\u2019t think we\u2019re going to be able to get her off that stage now,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n Jay-Z will be making his long-anticipated return to the stage this summer, beginning with a headlining set at Roots Picnic<\/a> in May, and a three-night residency<\/a> at Yankee Stadium in July.
