Ebro Darden<\/a> does not agree with the idea that people were trying to \u201ctear down\u201d Drake<\/a> during his beef with Kendrick Lamar<\/a>.<\/p>\n On the latest episode of The Ebro Laura Rosenberg<\/em> Show<\/em>, the three hosts responded to J. Cole\u2019s<\/a> recent suggestion that it was \u201cdisgusting\u201d seeing people rooting for Drake to fail<\/a> amid his K Dot beef. Peter Rosenberg said that it was an \u201cinteresting\u201d point Cole made, while Laura Stylez said that it was inevitable for people to take sides when there\u2019s a high-profile rivalry going on. \u201cBut it removes some responsibility from how Drake comported himself that led to people going, \u2018Yo, what the eff are you doing, bro?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Cole is talking about maybe industry folks,\u201d said Ebro, to which Rosenberg suggested he was talking about him, among other people.<\/p>\n \u201cI was critical about Drake before the beef,\u201d Ebro continued. \u201cI like all these guys musically, artistically. Some I like more than others. I\u2019m really loving what Cole\u2019s doing right now, but I don\u2019t give a goddamn. We respond to things on the fly, bro. Like, it\u2019s happening right now. You did X-Y-Z. What are we supposed to do? And, if we\u2019re keeping it a bean, the only person that supported my show and me is Kendrick Lamar. So like, if we talking about how we pay our bills, y\u2019all ain\u2019t been up here supporting me. None of y\u2019all. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n He shot down the idea that radio hosts, streamers, and podcasters should be objective in their reporting of music and musicians, but maintained that he made a \u201cconcerted effort\u201d to talk about what each rapper was saying on their respective records.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat Kendrick was saying, What Drake was saying, who I liked creatively, who I thought made missteps\u2026 It never got personal for me during the battle,\u201d said Ebro. \u201cThe reason it got personal in the commentary was because their commentary got personal. So you\u2019re forced to talk about what they\u2019re talking about because they got personal.\u201d<\/p>\n He reiterated his criticism for some of the moves that Drake made during the beef, such as his line about K Dot rapping as if he\u2019s \u201ctrying to free the slaves,\u201d and putting out a song that used a 2Pac<\/a> AI filter. \u201cBut the entire time, what are we saying? \u2018Nah, Drake makes hits, bro got hits,\u2019\u201d he added. \u201c\u2018It\u2019s a battle. He\u2019ll be fine after this is over.\u2019 And then he didn\u2019t want to let it end.\u201d Ebro also said that when Drake\u2019s long-awaited Iceman<\/em> album finally drops, they\u2019ll listen to the record, enjoy it, and critique it.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you don\u2019t unequivocally call it a classic within 24 hours of it dropping, the OVO cancer fans are going to be after you,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to be on your heels if you don\u2019t line up.\u201d<\/p>\n When Hot 97 canceled Ebro in the Morning<\/em>, Drake made it clear how he felt about Ebro with a sassy axe emoji. Rosenberg accused Drake of \u201ccelebrating\u201d what he believed<\/a> was the \u201cdemise\u201d of Ebro, Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez.
