Prime Video\u2019s upcoming TV adaptation of the adventure video game \u201cTomb Raider\u201d has hit pause on filming after star Sophie Turner, who plays the iconic archaeologist, experienced a \u201cminor\u201d injury, a spokesperson for the streamer confirmed in a statement Monday. The pause in production is to give Turner time to recover, according to the statement. No additional information about Turner\u2019s injury was revealed. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to resuming production as soon as possible,\u201d the statement added. <\/p>\n
A representative for Turner, 30, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday. <\/p>\n
Prime Video confirmed in September that Emmy-nominee Turner \u2014 she received a nod in 2019 for her turn as Sansa Stark in \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d \u2014 would be the latest actor to step into Croft\u2019s all-terrain boots. Angelina Jolie notably played Croft in two film adaptations in the early aughts, Alicia Vikander played the beloved video game character in 2016\u2019s \u201cTomb Raider,\u201d and \u201cMission Impossible\u201d actor Hayley Atwell lent her voice to Croft for Netflix\u2019s animated series. <\/p>\n
Prime Video\u2019s take on \u201cTomb Raider\u201d will see Emmy-winning \u201cFleabag\u201d creator-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge take the reins as its creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner. Chad Hodge is also co-showrunner and executive producer, and Jonathan Van Tulleken is executive producer and director. <\/p>\n
The streamer teased<\/a> Turner\u2019s Croft costume earlier this year, sharing a still of the actor in a fitted dark green tank, shorts and round sunglasses with gun holsters on her legs. The first look at the newest \u201cTomb Raider\u201d was met by reactions ranging from hype to misogynistic comments. <\/p>\n For Turner, Croft is the latest in a line of leading-lady roles. After growing with Sansa Stark in \u201cGame of Thrones,\u201d the British actor went on to portray mutant Jean Grey in \u201cX-Men: Apocalypse\u201d and \u201cX-Men: Dark Phoenix,\u201d and star in gothic film \u201cThe Dreadful\u201d (alongside \u201cThrones\u201d co-star Kit Harrington) and TV series \u201cSteal,\u201d among other projects. <\/p>\n \u201cI want really nuanced, layered characters,\u201d she told The Times in January<\/a>. \u201cI want big character changes.
