After a four-year wait, the third season of Euphoria <\/em>is less than two weeks away. A brand-new trailer<\/a> for the HBO drama, which dropped on Monday, proves just how much things have changed for Zendaya\u2019s Rue and her former high school peers.<\/p>\n Euphoria <\/em>was HBO\u2019s very first YA drama: a scandalous blend of drugs, sex and one very meta theater production<\/a>. Now, the Euphoria<\/em> cast is out of high school and thrust into the real world \u2014\u00a0one that includes OnlyFans, marital woes and drug muling.<\/p>\n The more mature material makes sense for the show\u2019s cast, some of whom used the show as a career launchpad: Emmy-winner Zendaya<\/a> is churning out blockbusters on the regular, Jacob Elordi was just nominated for an Academy Award<\/a> and (often controversial<\/a>) two-time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney has broken box office records<\/a> as an actress and producer.<\/p>\n In the years between seasons, Euphoria <\/em>also saw loss: Angus Cloud, who played Fez, died of a drug overdose<\/a> in 2023. And Eric Dane died in February<\/a>, less than a year after going public with his ALS diagnosis. He will make his final appearance as Cal this season.<\/p>\n With Euphoria\u2019<\/em>s third season on the horizon, here\u2019s a breakdown of the latest trailer.<\/p>\n After getting tangled up with drug dealer Laurie (Martha Kelly), by the end of Season 2, Rue was no longer using drugs. But the trailer for the new season shows Rue even deeper into the drug game, with DEA agents interviewing her about whether she\u2019s ever been to Mexico. Cut to Rue swallowing what appear to be plastic-wrapped balls of drugs, presumably so she can take them across the border.<\/p>\n However, there\u2019s a hint that Rue might be trying to find a way out by working with the feds \u2014 something that, no doubt, will cause major drama for Zendaya\u2019s character this season. \u201cI can tell you\u2019re a good kid in a bad situation,\u201d one of the DEA agents says as a single tear falls down Rue\u2019s cheek.<\/p>\n Alas, it sounds like Laurie\u2019s not out of the picture either. \u201cWhat happened to you?\u201d we hear Laurie say in the trailer. \u201cAlamo tried to kill me,\u201d a beat-up-looking Rue says. \u201cAnd he\u2019s going to do the same to you.\u201d<\/p>\nRue is in hot water with drug dealers \u2026 again\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n
