Sheinelle Jones<\/a> took a trip down memory lane while promoting her new book<\/a>, Through Mom\u2019s Eyes.<\/p>\n In addition to enjoying spring break with her kids, Jones used her week-long hiatus<\/a> from Today<\/a> to promote her book at her former news station, Fox 29, in Philadelphia. \u201cIs it weird to be in this room?\u201d Mike Jerrick asked Jones in a clip from the station\u2019s morning news show, Good Day Philadelphia, shared via Instagram<\/a> on Monday, March 30.<\/p>\n Jones said she \u201calmost cried\u201d when she saw her former colleague Karen Hepp upon arriving at the studio. Hepp was equally as emotional, as she shared, \u201cWell, we were pregnant, like, back-to-back, and we had those babies and we would hang out. And Kayin, they\u2019d come over and they\u2019d play.\u201d (Jones shares her three kids<\/a> \u2014 Kayin, Clara, and Uche \u2014 with her late husband, Uche Ojeh.)<\/p>\n Jones went on to share a funny realization she had while reuniting with another colleague. \u201cOne of our photographers \u2014 see, I said \u2018our,\u2019 did you see that \u2014 one of our photographers, Chris, came in, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, my God. Are you still with the girl that you met on Match?\u2019\u201d she stated. \u201cAnd he\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, yeah! And now, we have a child.\u2019 And the kid is, like, going off to college and learning how to drive. I\u2019m like, \u2018I remember when you were looking for love!\u201d<\/p>\n Jones noted that the show\u2019s studio had been \u201cgutted\u201d since she was last there and was grateful to be back. \u201cThere\u2019s so much love in this city, and I\u2019m just happy to be here,\u201d she gushed.<\/p>\n The Today host also revealed that she got her Fox 29 job by \u201caccident,\u201d sharing, \u201cI was a reporter in Tulsa, Oklahoma, covering American Idol<\/a>. I remember meeting a former news director here, and I was like, \u2018If I send you my VHS tape, could you give me some feedback?\u2019 And so, I sent her my first VHS tape, and it got lost. So, I sent her my second VHS tape, and it got lost.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cAnd then, I got a call from the news director at the time here, and she said, \u2018Hey, we love you for the job. Would you like to come interview for the job?\u2019 I didn\u2019t know what she was talking about, and I was like, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 I was like, \u2018What was the job again?\u2019 And she was like, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s a morning reporter at the Fox affiliate in Philly.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Yes, yes.\u2019 And it turns out, my tape that I was using to get feedback got lost and ended up in the HR pile. And that\u2019s how I got this job.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans were excited to see Jones back on Fox 29. \u201cPhilly\u2019s missed you Sheinelle!<\/p>\n \u2764<\/p>\n ,\u201d one person commented underneath the Instagram clip. Another added, \u201cAwww\u2026 you and Mike are together again.<\/p>\n \u2764<\/p>\n \u2764<\/p>\n \u2764<\/p>\n .\u201d Someone else shared, \u201cOh, I missed this. Welcome back!!\u201d<\/p>\n After earning a degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University, Jones got her start as a reporter and morning anchor at WICS-TV in Springfield, Illinois, per her Today bio<\/a>. She went on to work at a Fox affiliate in Tulsa before joining the Good Day Philadelphia team. She left Fox 29 in 2014 to become an anchor on Weekend Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n Five years later, Jones began co-hosting the third hour of Today with Al Roker<\/a>, Craig Melvin<\/a>, and Dylan Dreyer<\/a>. She took several months off from Today in late 2024 and early 2025 amid her husband\u2019s private battle with brain cancer. Ojeh died<\/a> at the age of 45 in May 2025.<\/p>\n Jones returned<\/a> to Today that September, and was announced<\/a> as Jenna Bush Hager<\/a>\u2018s new fourth hour of Today co-host in December 2025. She began<\/a> her new role on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle in January.<\/p>\n Jones\u2019 debut book, Through Mom\u2019s Eyes, hits bookstores on April 14.
