Taylor Swift<\/a>\u00a0surprised her fans by releasing the music video for her song Elizabeth Taylor<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old blonde performer is not the star of the dazzling video, which is rare for her, but rather she is seen in a newsreel that combines public images of her.<\/p>\n

Most of the photos are of the Golden Age Hollywood actress Taylor.<\/p>\n

She is seen from some of her biggest films such as Cleopatra, Father of the Bride, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,\u00a0A Place in the Sun<\/a>, Giant, Suddenly Last Summer and Who’s Afraid of Virginia<\/a> Woolf? among others.<\/p>\n

Oscar-winner Taylor died in 2011 at age 79.<\/p>\n

The lyrics to the song hint at the movie icon as she sings about Taylor’s famous violet eyes, her white diamonds – Taylor wore diamonds often and has a best-selling perfume called White Diamonds – and mentions the diva’s favorite vacation spots such as Portofino, Italy<\/a> and the Plaza Athanee hotel in Paris.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For now, the music video is only available on Apple Music and the premium Spotify level.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year the artist talked about the tune.<\/p>\n

‘In this record, there’s a song called Elizabeth Taylor, which is sort of my emotions and my issues with fame through the lens of cosplaying the life of Elizabeth Taylor, so you kind of meld the two experiences together,’ said Swift on The Elvis Duran Show.<\/a><\/p>\n

‘She is always someone that I’ve looked up to as being this very glamorous, very beloved, but for some reason a polarizing figure, which I found myself in that place, too.’<\/p>\n

In a TikTok video, Swift talked about what inspired her to look at Taylor.<\/p>\n

‘My parents sent me this clip of Elizabeth Taylor’s son saying something very flattering, that if there were one person he might compare to his mother in the modern day, in terms of persona and\u2026the chaos around us<\/a>, he said it would be me,’ said the singer.<\/p>\n

‘I had to get out of the car. I was like, “One sec, I have to get out of the car for a second,” and I just sang this melody into my phone, got back in the car and\u2026 that’s what it’s like when it happens.’<\/p>\n

The song Elizabeth Taylor is the second time Swift has\u00a0referred to the actress in a tune<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the 2017 song \u2026Ready for It? from the album Reputation, she sang, ‘And he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor \/ Every love I’ve known in comparison is a failure.’<\/p>\n

Swift’s frenemy Kim Kardashian is also a big fan of the movie icon and even produced a docu-series about her called Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
