The clips include shots from films including \u201cCleopatra,\u201d \u201cFather of the Bride,\u201d \u201cCat on a Hot Tin Roof,\u201d \u201cA Place in the Sun,\u201d \u201cGiant,\u201d \u201cSuddenly, Last Summer,\u201d \u201cWho\u2019s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,\u201d \u201cJulia Misbehaves\u201d and even the late \u201960s cult favorite \u201cBoom!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFor now, the music video is only available on Apple Music and the premium Spotify level, as happened with the February premiere for the \u201cOpalite\u201d video. Having it premiere exclusively on those premium apps would seem to be a reflection of recent changes to the Billboard charts that only allow videos on paid services to count toward streaming totals. But in the case of \u201cOpalite,\u201d the video made it to YouTube\u2019s free tier two days later, so the same may hold true with \u201cElizabeth Taylor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tYouTube did get a new, more generic visualizer that simply shows the cover art for the single, which is coming out as a 7-inch vinyl in April for Record Store Day. Her remark came in response to a question about whether she asked permission from her subjects to write about them. She does \u201cif they\u2019re real people,\u201d she said, \u201cand if it\u2019s Elizabeth Taylor, we go to their family and her estate and let them know and they were lovely about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLyrics in the song include clear references to Taylor\u2019s life and style, and also some more obscure Easter-egg-type reference. \u201cI\u2019ll cry my eyes violet\u201d refers to the eye color that entranced hundreds of millions, while \u201cAll my white diamonds and lovers are forever\u201d is a call-out to Taylor\u2019s fragrance line, White Diamonds. The song also references some of Taylor\u2019s favorite places, including Portofino, Italy and the Plaza Athanee hotel in Paris. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOn \u201cThe Elvis Duran Show,\u201d Swift said of the song, \u201c\u201dIn this record, there\u2019s a song called \u2018Elizabeth Taylor,\u2019 which is sort of my emotions and my issues with fame through the lens of cosplaying the life of Elizabeth Taylor, so you kind of meld the two experiences together. She is always someone that I\u2019ve looked up to as being this very glamorous, very beloved, but for some reason a polarizing figure, which I found myself in that place, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a TikTok video, Swift talked about the origins of the song. \u201cMy parents sent me this clip of\u00a0Elizabeth Taylor\u2019s son saying something very flattering, that if there were one person he might compare to his mother in the modern day, in terms of persona and\u2026the chaos around us, he said it would be me. I was so flattered by that. I just immediately started talking to Travis\u00a0(Kelce) about it. I was going on and on about Elizabeth Taylor, talking about all the things about her that I loved\u2026 how she kept challenging herself late into her life. I had to get out of the car.
