A royal historian has revealed the cutting remark Queen Elizabeth made about her grandson Prince Harry after he decided to step back from the Royal Family.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The Queen reportedly gave Harry a brutal nickname connected to his new life when he and Meghan Markle announced they would be stepping down as senior royals and moving to the US with their young son, Prince Archie.<\/p>\n
Harry was described as “a carer for Archie”, according to history Hugo Vickers, who has written extensively about the Royal Family.<\/p>\n
Mr Vickers claimed the Queen questioned her grandson’s decision to step away from royal duties and relocate to the US.<\/p>\n
He also alleged Harry and Meghan’s high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 caused a significant strain on the Royal Family.<\/p>\n
The claims appear in an extract from his new book Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History, serialised in the Mail ahead of the book’s release on April 9.<\/p>\n
In another bombshell revelation, the historian claimed the monarch urged Harry not to rush into marriage with Meghan amid concerns about her behaviour.<\/p>\n
The Queen was initially said to be extremely welcoming of Meghan initially and described the then actress as a “breath of fresh air” when the pair first started dating in July 2016.<\/p>\n
However, royal experts have suggested the late monarch had private reservations about the union.<\/p>\n
“The Queen herself suggested that Harry should wait a year,” Mr Vickers wrote in his new book.<\/p>\n
“He did not take her advice. Instead, as we know, the wedding went ahead just over six months after the couple’s engagement.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, it’s understood the Duke of Sussex is weighing a return to the UK with his family, with any visit dependent on the outcome of a dispute over his security arrangements.<\/p>\n
Harry is expected back in Britain in July for a series of engagements, but it’s uncertain whether his wife and children will accompany him.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The duke lost access to publicly funded police security after stepping back from royal duties in 2020, but has repeatedly challenged that decision through the courts.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Harry has made it clear he will not bring his children and his wife to the UK without adequate protection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
