Andrew\u2019s hopes for Princess Beatrice, Eugenie’s royal roles crushed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\nAndrew reportedly had high hopes for his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, to take on bigger royal roles.<\/p>\n
However, the former Duke of York\u2019s hopes seems to have been crushed by his own late mother Queen Elizabeth\u2019s \u201chalf in, half out\u201d rule for the royal family.<\/p>\n
Even though it was aimed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it also applies to Andrew\u2019s daughters, as per author and classicist Harry Mount.<\/p>\n
He noted that while both Beatrice and Eugenie have full-time jobs, they also have places to stay in London. <\/p>\n
Beatrice has a flat at St James’s Palace, while Eugenie can use Ivy Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace. Both homes are partly supported by royal funds.<\/p>\n
And now that King Charles is said to be keen to create distance between the Yorks and the rest of the royal family due to their parents\u2019 links to Jeffrey Epstein, Beatrice and Eugenie\u2019s royal roles are under threat. <\/p>\n
\u201cAny hope of royal duties \u2013 which [their father Andrew] Mountbatten-Windsor is said to covet for them \u2013 are over,\u201d Mount penned in the i newspaper. <\/i><\/p>\n
He added, \u201cOf course, they will go to big royal events: weddings, christenings, funerals and coronations. But the big picture opportunities like the Easter church service at Sandringham are over.\u201d<\/p>\n
Previously, in 2023, a source told The Express, \u201cAndrew has helped orchestrate a slow and gradual return for the girls, which has seen them do more and more charity work alongside school visits and other duties.<\/p>\n
