From reality TV meltdowns to allegations of fraud, Coach Sharrieff Shah<\/strong><\/a> has stood by Jen Shah<\/strong><\/a> through it all.<\/p>\n

While Bravo viewers were introduced to the couple when The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City<\/em><\/a>\u00a0launched in late 2020, the twosome met in the \u201990s while attending The University of Utah.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a class together. I saw her, my heart stops immediately,\u201d Sharrieff recalled of his wife in season 1. \u201cI walk up to her [and ask], \u2018Is that seat taken?\u2019 She looks at me like, \u2018There\u2019s nobody there. I guess not.\u2019 That\u2019s how we met.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair were still in college when Jen got pregnant with their eldest son, who was born in 1994. They went on to tie the knot that year. After they got married, Jen converted to Islam, and they welcomed a second son, Omar, in 2003.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn her own words. Jen Shah has been keeping the world updated on her time behind bars through her online diary since reporting to her 78-month prison sentence. The first set of entries penned by the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star were published in early March 2023. Shah recounts making her way to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Jen certainly made waves for her antics during season 1 of RHOSLC<\/em>, things got real during production of season 2 in March 2021 when she and assistant Stuart Smith<\/strong> were arrested for their alleged roles<\/a> in a telemarketing scheme that defrauded hundreds of victims who were mostly over the age of 55.<\/p>\n

\u201cJennifer Shah, who portrays herself as a wealthy and successful businessperson on \u2018reality\u2019 television, and Stuart Smith, who is portrayed as Shah\u2019s \u2018first assistant,\u2019 allegedly generated and sold \u2018lead lists\u2019 of innocent individuals for other members of their scheme to repeatedly scam,\u201d Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss<\/strong> explained in a statement at the time.<\/p>\n

The reality TV personality and her assistant initially pleaded not guilty to all charges. While Smith changed his plea in November 2021<\/a>, Jen agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud as part of a plea deal, which included a sentencing range of 11 to 14 years under advisory guidelines, in July 2022.<\/p>\n

Jen was ultimately sentenced to 33 months in prison and released in December 2025.<\/p>\n

1994<\/h2>\n

The couple exchanged vows after meeting at The University of Utah. Their eldest son, Sharrieff Jr., was born.<\/p>\n

2003<\/h2>\n

Their family was completed when son Omar was born.<\/p>\n

2019<\/h2>\n

One year before their lives changed because Jen signed on to Housewives, the \u201cShah Squad\u201d celebrated Thanksgiving with a \u201cgrateful and love filled #TBT.\u201d<\/p>\n

2020<\/h2>\n

RHOSLC premiered on Bravo in November. By the end of the season, cracks in their marriage had emerged when Jen had a breakdown over Sharrieff not supporting her when her father died.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter my dad passed a year ago and with Sharrieff being gone all the time, I became very depressed. I had to go on medicine for anxiety and depression, but I was scared, though, to get on medication and, like, it was a sign of weakness,\u201d she explained in a December episode. \u201cAfter my dad passed away, I was lashing out at everybody around me. I mean, it almost cost me my marriage. He was done with me acting out and it wasn\u2019t until, you know, Sharrieff was like, \u2018I\u2019m leaving,\u2019 that I was like, \u2018Wait, hold.\u2019 That was my rock bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n

2021<\/h2>\n

Jen was arrested on March 30 and maintained her innocence for more than one year. A source told Us that Jen\u2019s legal issues \u201cput a strain on their marriage,\u201d but they were determined to stick together.<\/p>\n

2022<\/h2>\n

Jen changed her plea to guilty in July. Two months later, she marked 28 years of marriage to Sharrieff.<\/p>\n

Along with his two sons, Sharrieff penned a letter to the judge asking for leniency ahead of Jen\u2019s sentencing. \u201cShe knows the emotional and psychological toll that her sons have already been forced to pay,\u201d he wrote about the \u201cembarrassment, fear and shame\u201d Jen and their family have experienced. \u201cThese are harms for which she will spend the rest of her life atoning.<\/p>\n

2023<\/h2>\n

Jen\u2019s family, including Sharrieff and their two sons, were by her side at her sentencing in New York City on January 6. Before she was sentenced<\/a> to six and a half years in prison, Jen apologized to the victims and her family. Jen reported to FPC Bryan in Texas for the start of her 78-month prison sentence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank all my supporters out there that have been there throughout this entire journey and supported me through the most difficult time of my life,\u201d the reality star said in an interview shared via her website shortly before she surrendered. \u201cAnd not only me, but my family. I wanna say thank you for supporting me, for loving me, for standing by my side \u2026 and I wanna say I\u2019m sorry. I\u2019m sorry for letting you down. I\u2019m sorry for letting the victims down. I want to from this point forward prove worthy. I want to make each victim whole. I want to prove worthy of the love and support that Sharrieff and Omar and Sharrieff Jr. and my mom have shown \u2014 my brothers and sisters have shown me \u2014 throughout this journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
