Jenner continued, \u201cI think just protecting the things that I feel need protection\u2026my relationships. I just try to protect myself, and I think I have really thick skin, which is much needed. I kind of know, if there\u2019s a bad story or something, it will come and go.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her focus now, she said, is staying grounded. \u201cI have my family; I have my kids that I go home to that love me so much and have no idea what\u2019s going on in this world,\u201d she said. \u201cThey definitely keep me grounded.\u201d<\/p>\n
That perspective has also shaped how she thinks about her children growing up online. \u201cWhen Stormi turns 15, I don\u2019t know how I\u2019m going to handle it,\u201d Jenner said. \u201cWe don\u2019t know how [fame] is going to affect them and it\u2019s really scary.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also described the realities of daily life as a mother. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely a lot,\u201d she explained. \u201cI wake up at, like, 7 A.M. If I don\u2019t wake myself up, they\u2019re waking me up. But I also like to be up 20 minutes before them, 15 minutes before them. I want to have my coffee, get a little dressed. Coffee drinkers know.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added, \u201cMotherhood has definitely changed me for the better\u2026That love, and rediscovering wonder through their eyes, has been amazing. I was young when I had my first baby, so I feel like I was just entering adulthood. And I never really left the excitement of being a child. It all happened so fast.\u201d<\/p>\n
She recalled explaining the family\u2019s reality TV origins to Stormi, and later showing her daughter an episode of the series. \u201cShe asked me the other day, \u2018Why are we famous?\u2019\u201d Jenner said. \u201c\u2018Why is our whole family famous?\u2019\u2026I sat her down and I\u2019m like, \u2018We started a television show when I was a year older than you, and that\u2019s why we\u2019re all in this together.\u2019 She was like, \u2018Can I watch it?\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Sure.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Watching the show together had an unexpected impact, Jenner said. \u201cI was so emotional afterwards,\u201d she told Kid Cudi. \u201cI don\u2019t know what hit me, but I was like weeping in my bed\u2026Just feeling so grateful for all that we\u2019ve built, but also mourning that closeness when we were all living under the same roof. It was very emotional. I didn\u2019t know it was going to hit me like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jenner also reflected on launching Kylie Cosmetics at a young age. \u201cIt came from 15-year-old me,\u201d she said. \u201cI was obsessed with makeup\u2026Then I realized my followers started to become obsessed with what color lipstick I was wearing. I really wanted to do this.\u201d She added that she funded the company herself and maintained full ownership from the start. \u201cI put up all of my own money that I made from the show, and I owned 100 percent of my own company, and I just went for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
When it came to marketing, Jenner said her approach was unconventional at the time. \u201cI was like, \u2018No, I\u2019m just going to post it on Instagram.\u2019 And that wasn\u2019t even a thing\u2014like posting to promote your own brand on Instagram. I was just like, \u2018This is where my fans are, and this is what I\u2019m going to do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
