\n\tBruce Springsteen<\/a> kicked off his new tour in Minneapolis with perhaps the most militantly political show from a major touring artist in years. <\/p>\n \n\tAccording to reviews in Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em> and Billboard<\/a><\/em>, the first stop of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band\u2019s 2026 Land of Hope and Dreams Tour was nearly equal parts anti-Trump rally and concert.<\/p>\n \n\tThe 76-year-old made several brief speeches throughout the show during song breaks, taking to task the Trump administration \u2014 along with ample doses of positivity and hope. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock and roll in dangerous times,\u201d Springsteen announced. \u201cWe are here in celebration and defense of our American ideals, democracy, our Constitution, and our sacred American promise. The America that I love, the America that I\u2019ve written about for 50 years, that\u2019s been a beacon of hope and liberty around the world, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless, and treasonous administration.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tThe cost of joining Springsteen\u2019s resistance, however, is rather high. While the cheapest face-value tickets reportedly sold for around $100 range, the better seats cost<\/a> exponentially more \u2014 going up to $2,957 a ticket (and that\u2019s assuming you\u2019re not paying resale, which often costs far more). The prices caused some backlash<\/a> among fans last month. <\/p>\n \n\tLater in the show, when introducing his anti-ICE protest anthem, \u201cStreets of Minneapolis\u201d \u2014 which mourns Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who died at the hands of federal agents \u2014 The Boss declared, \u201cMinnesota, you gave us hope. You gave us courage. And for those who gave their lives, Renee Good, mother of three, brutally murdered, and Alex Pretti, VA nurse, executed by ICE and left to die in the street without even the decency of our lawless government investigating their deaths. Their bravery, their sacrifice, and their names will not be forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tSpringsteen then led the crowd to chant \u201cICE out now!\u201d four times. Rolling Stone<\/em> noted<\/a> that the refrain from the crowd grew so loud, \u201cthe walls of the venue were practically shaking.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tIn another speech, Springsteen criticized the \u201ccorrupt\u201d attorney general Pam Bondi, saying, \u201cOur justice department has completely abdicated its independence\u201d and added, \u201cMany of our elected leaders have failed us that this American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people. So join us and let\u2019s fight for the America that we love.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThat said, Springsteen somehow concluded on an upbeat note, telling the crowd, \u201cThese are the hard times, but we\u2019ll make it through. This is a tour that was not planned.
