Dan Levy has found a source of “great comfort” amid the death of his “Schitt’s Creek” co-star and on-screen mom, Catherine O\u2019Hara.<\/a><\/p>\n Levy, who played David Rose <\/a>on \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek,\u201d opened up about O’Hara’s death on the March 31 episode of \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s like a collective loss, I think. She was the greatest,\u201d he said. \u201cShe\u2019s irreplaceable, and I think the great comfort for me has just been to see how loved she was, you know what I mean? The outpouring. Everyone felt like they kind of knew her.”<\/p>\n \u201cShe was one of the funniest comedians I\u2019ve ever seen,\u201d Fallon said.<\/p>\n \u201cUnbelievably talented at improvising. One of the great, great, great, great queens,\u201d Levy added.<\/p>\n O\u2019Hara died in January at the age of 71 of a pulmonary embolism<\/a> after having rectal cancer. She was beloved for her role as Moira on \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek,\u201d playing the eccentric matriarch of the Rose family with an untraceable accent that became her calling card.<\/p>\n \u201cThe accent was kind of up to me,\u201d she told TODAY\u2019s Willie Geist during a Sunday Sitdown interview<\/a> in 2024. \u201cThe accents, I should say. When people try to imitate that character, the mistake most people make is to be consistent.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Hara was a comedy icon with 10 Emmy nominations and two wins, one for best actress in a comedy series for \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek\u201d and another for her writing on \u201cSCTV Network.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Hara also starred in the first two \u201cHome Alone\u201d movies<\/a>, \u201cBest in Show,\u201d \u201cBeetlejuice\u201d (and its 2024 sequel, \u201cBeetlejuice, Beetlejuice”), \u201cThe Nightmare Before Christmas,\u201d \u201cThe Last of Us\u201d and, most recently, Apple TV\u2019s \u201cThe Studio,” which got her an Emmy nomination for supporting actress in a comedy series.<\/p>\n In March, O\u2019Hara posthumously won an Actor Award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series for her work on \u201cThe Studio.\u201d Co-star Seth Rogen raved about her<\/a> when he accepted it on her behalf.<\/p>\n \u201cSomething that I\u2019ve just been marveling at over the last few weeks was really her ability to be generous and kind and gracious while never, ever minimizing her own talents and her own ability to contribute to the work that we were doing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cShe knew she could destroy, and she wanted to destroy every day on set.\u201d<\/p>\n
