The sequel expands the love even further, bringing in other Nintendo characters and references from other classic games. The plot gets too overstuffed at times trying to fit it all in, and non-fans will be completely lost. But for people who love the games, and loved the first movie, it\u2019s definitely a galactic journey worth taking.<\/p>\n<p>The movie starts soon after the first movie, with Bowser (Jack Black) in tiny jail and Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) now at home in the Mushroom Kingdom. Things get shaken up when Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie) shows up looking for his father, kidnapping another princess (Brie Larson) to power his weapon. Can the brothers and their friends save not only their world, but everyone else\u2019s?<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Black\u2019s Bowser is once again the most delightful character in the movie, though Donald Glover\u2019s Yoshi is also a fun addition. Larson\u2019s Princess Rosalina and Day\u2019s Luigi don\u2019t get enough to do, sadly, but it turns out Glen Powell is the absolutely perfect voice for Fox McCloud (from the \u201cStar Fox\u201d game series).<\/p>\n<p>They have thrown in some nods to popular movies, including a nice moment from the \u201cThe Lord of the Rings\u201d movie series, but it\u2019s still not enough to pull in non-Mario fans. Love letters aren\u2019t meant for strangers, and \u201cGalaxy\u201d is best when it focuses on the people it wants to talk to most.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<div class=\"d-none\">\n<div class=\"row vail-donation vail-donation-mobile p-0\" style=\"\">\n<div style=\"background:#1061ae\" class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/swiftmedia.s3.amazonaws.com\/mountain.swiftcom.com\/images\/sites\/7\/2020\/03\/30232534\/VD-logo-white.png');background-size: contain;background-position: center;background-repeat: no-repeat;\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\" style=\"color: #fff; vertical-align: middle\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button>&#13;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr\/>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Grade: Three stars<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mike &amp; Nick &amp; Nick &amp; Alice (Hulu)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Everyone has a certain silliness threshold. We can appreciate silliness up to a certain point, but once a movie crosses that line, it\u2019s lost us.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re someone with a higher silliness threshold and a fondness for action movies, you might enjoy \u201cMike &amp; Nick &amp; Nick &amp; Alice.\u201d At its heart, the movie is an enjoyable action romance with an interesting sci-fi twist. However, there\u2019s a heaping dose of comic goofiness on the top, brimming with 1980s and general pop culture references that fly so thick and fast you can barely keep up. Some of them land surprisingly well \u2013 if you remember \u201cAlf\u201d fondly, keep an ear out \u2013 but many of them don\u2019t. Someone not in the mood for silliness won\u2019t be able to handle it.<\/p>\n<p>The sci-fi twist is spoiled in the trailer, but I\u2019ll let you decide for yourself whether to go find it. What I will say is that Mike (James Marsden) and Nick (Vince Vaughn) are both mobsters, and Alice (Eliza Gonz\u00e1lez) is Nick\u2019s wife. Mike and Alice are in love, one Nick wants Mike dead, and another Nick wants to save his life. Chaos, naturally, ensues.<\/p>\n<p>Vaughn does one of his best performances in awhile, subtly but convincingly distinguishing between both versions of himself. Gonz\u00e1lez makes sure her character is more than just a love interest. Marsden brings a wonderful dry common sense that plays off them both wonderfully. Among the supporting cast, Keith David is clearly having so much fun that the feeling is infectious.<\/p>\n<p>As long as you enjoy silliness, you\u2019ll have plenty of fun, too.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: Two and a half stars<\/p>\n<p><em>Jenniffer Wardell is an award-winning movie critic and member of the Denver Film Critics Society and the Utah Film Critics Association.
