The project is apparently one that\u2019s being undertaken by Galaxy Investment partners, a family business of New York private equity firm Fortress Investment Group, among others.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_495033\" style=\"width: 402px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.offbeat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Frenchmen-Decatur-McEneryCo.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-495033\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sourced from McEnery Co.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nola.com\/news\/business\/check-point-charlie-hotel-development\/article_627d847b-aa50-4785-b5a9-76082136f080.html?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=email&amp;utm_campaign=user-share\">As reported by NOLA.com<\/a>, there is a \u201cpreliminary deal to turn three buildings on the edge of the Faubourg Marigny\u201d into a hotel project containing an entertainment venue that would be the gateway to the entertainment district on Frenchmen Street.<\/p>\n<p><em>OffBeat<\/em> reported on the relatively sudden sale of Check Point Charlie, at 501 Esplanade, last week.<\/p>\n<p>The property at 500-504 Frenchmen was purchased in 2020 by the Motwani family, whose 2024 plans for a hotel never came to fruition, although they preliminarily installed scaffolding on the property that interfered with sidewalk traffic for well over a year, and allowed the exterior of the property to become dilapidated and scarred by graffiti, as foot traffic was impeded.
