Music producer Sidney “Omen” Brown died due to a heart complication in September after he was found dead in his apartment<\/a>, the New York City Medical Examiner’s office said.<\/p>\n

Brown died from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the medical examiner said. The manner of death was ruled natural.<\/p>\n

The famous producer \u2014 who worked with superstar artists such as Ludacris<\/a>, Drake,<\/a> and Beyonc\u00e9 \u2014<\/a> was 49.<\/p>\n

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, also called ASCVD, is caused by plaque buildup in the arteries and can include coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral artery disease, and aortic atherosclerotic disease, according to the American Heart Association<\/a>. Conditions related to ASCVD are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally.<\/p>\n

Brown was found dead in his New York City apartment in September. He had missed a DJ-ing gig at Barawine Harlem, prompting family members to check his East Harlem apartment.<\/p>\n

When the family got there, they found Brown dead, Brown’s sister, Nicole Iris Brown, 43, told NBC News at the time.<\/p>\n

Nicole Iris Brown did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday morning on her brother’s cause of death.<\/p>\n

She said in September that her brother was “holistic and healthy,” calling his death “sudden.”<\/p>\n

“I hope people will remember that he was willing to help the younger generation,” Nicole Brown said in September. “He was always big on helping younger people start their careers and get themselves into the game.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
