A TV adaptation of Jonathan Franzen\u2019s seminal 2001 novel, \u201cThe Corrections,\u201d has finally found a home at Netflix. <\/p>\n
The streaming service on Thursday announced its acquisition of the Paramount Television Studios project, which has been in development since 2024 (and shopped around for much longer). Netflix ordered \u201cThe Corrections\u201d straight to series, meaning the drama will skip the pilot phase and likely take a fast track to release. <\/p>\n
Academy Award winner Meryl Streep will star in the limited series, directed by Cord Jefferson (\u201cAmerican Fiction\u201d) and written by Franzen. <\/p>\n
Netflix in a statement described \u201cThe Corrections\u201d as \u201ca sharply comic portrait of a Midwestern family whose three unmoored adult siblings desperately resist their mother\u2019s wish for one last Christmas together \u2014 each undone by the delusional ambitions that were supposed to save them from becoming their parents.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s pack our bags, grab some tinsel and emotionally prepare for a hearty serving of family dysfunction,\u201d the streamer said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Corrections\u201d limited series comes 25 years after Franzen published his National Book Award-winning novel, which he famously blindfolded himself to finish<\/a>. Previous attempted adaptations, including an HBO production<\/a> helmed by Noah Baumbach and starring Ewan McGregor and Greta Gerwig (among a slew of other stars), were reportedly squashed<\/a> due to difficulties translating the book\u2019s narrative style on screen. <\/p>\n A release date has yet to be announced. <\/p>\n Recently, Streep lent her voice to blockbusters \u201cHoppers\u201d and \u201cProject Hail Mary.\u201d She also stars in the upcoming sequel to \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada,\u201d hitting theaters May 1. <\/p>\n
