King Charles has received a gift that\u2019s usually just for Queen
\nCamilla.<\/p>\n

As
\nThe King left St. Asaph Cathedral following the Maundy service<\/a>,
\nhe was presented with a posy of spring flowers.<\/p>\n

Usually, just royal women are presented with flowers. But all
\nthe leading figures at the Maundy service are given posies which
\nmeant King Charles left St. Asaph Cathedral carrying a bouquet of
\nspring flowers.<\/p>\n

The presentation of the posies is traced back to medieval times,
\nwhen people were given nosegays to mask bad smells. The bouquets
\nalso symbolise the herbs and flowers associated with washing of the
\nfeet, which used to be carried out by the Monarch as a sign of
\nhumility and to follow the actions of Jesus who washed the feet of
\nhis disciples at the Last Supper.<\/p>\n

Now the flowers are handed over at the end of the service and
\nKing Charles, as is traditional, held them for the formal photos
\nthat were taken outside St. Asaph following the ceremony.<\/p>\n

The bouquet was made up of bright spring flowers, including
\npurple and yellow blooms, and contained in the traditional white
\nfringed surrounds.<\/p>\n

The King had travelled to St. Asaph for the traditional Maundy
\nService, the first time it has been held in north Wales and only
\nthe second time it\u2019s been held in Wales at all.<\/p>\n

During the service, The King presented Maundy Money to 77 men
\nand 77 women, one for each year of his age. All have been chosen
\nfor their work in their communities.<\/p>\n

They each received one white purse and one red purse of
\nspecially minted coins.<\/p>\n

King Charles and Queen Camilla later went on a walk about to
\nmeet some of the crowds that had gathered to see them at St.
\nAsaph.<\/p>\n

The King and Queen will now travel to Windsor where the will
\nspend Easter. They will lead the Royal Family at the Easter Sunday
\nservice where it\u2019s expected they will be joined by the Prince and
\nPrincess of Wales.<\/p>\n

However, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will not be
\nthere. They are spending Easter elsewhere. It follows renewed
\ncontroversy about the friendship of their father, Andrew
\nMountbatten Windsor, and their mother, Sarah Ferguson, with the
\nconvicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n
