Golden retrievers Maeve and Oakley tied the knot in a charity wedding ceremony<\/a> in East Sussex on March 31 \u2014 and yes, it was a full event with 60 human guests in attendance.<\/p>\n

The couple, who already share six puppies together, exchanged their version of vows in a celebration that doubled as a fundraiser for dog welfare. On the day of the event, Maeve\u2019s owner, Hannah Brown<\/strong>, and Oakley\u2019s owner, Stuart<\/strong>, raised money for Dogs Trust USA, which works to address dog welfare issues globally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re good friends with [Oakley\u2019s] family,\u201d she told the BBC<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ve gone on lots of holidays together. It\u2019s a lovely little love story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown also said on This Morning<\/a> that the dogs\u2019 bond developed over time: after going \u201con lots of lovely walks together,\u201d their love \u201chas just blossomed.\u201d<\/p>\n

What started as a joke between friends turned into something much bigger. Brown told the BBC that the wedding began as a \u201csilly idea\u201d intended to bring positivity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s just nice to spread some love and positivity,\u201d she said. \u201cLife is too short.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown documented the buildup to the ceremony on Instagram<\/a>, leaning fully into the absurdity of it all \u2014 and inviting the internet along for the ride.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know it sounds a bit silly (okay, a lot silly), but honestly, life\u2019s too short for negativity,\u201d Brown wrote. \u201cSometimes you just need a little love, a little chaos, and a lot of wagging tails.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that the event would include fundraising efforts: \u201cOn the big day, we\u2019ll be collecting donations for a dogs\u2019 charity to give back to our furry friends in need. Because love is best when it\u2019s shared. \ud83d\udc95\ud83d\udc3e.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ceremony didn\u2019t skimp on details. It included a custom cake made from oats, bananas and mashed potatoes \u2014 crafted specifically for the canine guests of honor.<\/p>\n
