While the series will weather a departure, it will also welcome Ayesha Harris as a series regular. Harris, who plays Dr. Parker Ellis, has been recurring until her Season 3 promotion.<\/p>\n Ganesh\u2019s departure isn\u2019t meant to be a devastating event for the series. As Variety notes, \u201cGanesh\u2019s exit is a story-driven decision,\u201d as the fictional hospital, the Pittsburgh Trauma Medica Center, is a teaching hospital and as such, staff turnover at real-life teaching hospitals is a normal occurrence. Ganesh\u2019s character also had a lot of time in Season 2 to think about what she would do next in her medical career after her tenure.<\/p>\n Harris\u2019s character has been around since Season 1 as a senior resident on the hospital\u2019s night shift.
